I get daily spam in one of my gmail accounts, and it’s always some sort of ruse, usually with an attachment that they want you to open. They are often couched in some sort of BS about a bill that you owe. Today, I got one and it was signed:

Cordell Valentine

Head of Non-Processing Infrastructure

Non-Processing Infrastructure? What is that even? Cordell Valentine was (is?) a football player who played at Tarleton State. These things are annoying, but my parents are living proof that these scams work.

I once got a 419 scam email from a “persecuted white farmer in Zimbabwe” whose name was supposedly “Sheryl Crowe.”

It’s a form of urban planning, like reticulating splines.
